City of Plano

In the State of Texas, the local governments are not the same as in other states. All states are different from each other, and each may seem unusual to someone from another state.

The Plano Independent School District (PISD) is totally independent from the City of Plano and has its own elected Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees determine PISD's budget and tax rate. The City Council determines the budget and tax rate of the City of Plano.

The Central Appraisal District of Collin County is a State of Texas-created entity and is totally independent from the City of Plano and PISD.

North Central Texas Council of Governments

16-county area centered around Dallas and Fort Worth. NCTCOG has over 230 member governments including all 16 counties, numerous cities, school districts, and special districts.
