Central Appraisal District of Collin County 972-578-5200 Appraises all taxable property in the county. Accepts applications from persons 65+ for Homestead Exemptions.
Collin County Courthouse 972-548-4100 Main government law offices for the county.
Collin County Sub-Courthouse   Plano sub-court location.
Commissioners Court 972-548-4631 Central policy and budget-making body for the county.
County Clerk 972-548-4134 Responsible for land records, probate records, assumed name records, foreclosure notices, state and federal tax liens, beer and wine retailers permit records, trust funds, marks and brands, vital statistics, marriage licenses and mental health records.
County Constables Metro 972-424-1460 Serve subpoenas and other legal papers, have the same authority as deputy sheriffs.
County Court Mental 972-548-4521 Manages cases involving involuntary commitments to metanl health hospitals or out-patient clinics and drug or alcohol commitments.
County Courts at Law Metro 972-424-1460 Call for specific courts. Covers criminal misdemeanor cases, civil cases under $100,000, probate and mental illness cases. Appoints guardians for persons who are minors and/or incompetents.
County Extension Service 972-548-4233 Answers questions on nutrition, food safety and preparation as well as vegetable and landscape gardening. Provides advice on problems with insects or unwanted plants.
County Fire Marshall 972-548-4669 Investigates and enforces laws pertaining to fires and arson in unincorporate areas of the county. Also investigates hazardous maerials and explosives. Offers fire safety inspections, fire safety training, building code and wrecking yard code enforcement.
County Judge 972-548-4631 Duties include service as presiding officer and a member of the Commissioner's Court as well as the adminitrative head of county.
County Sheriff 972-547-5100 Provides law enforcement and services including educational programs, specially trained personnel to assist with mentally disturbed persons. Sponsors county wide Crime Watch and offers Sheriff's Academy to learn operations of sheriff's office.
County Tax Assessor/Collector 972-547-5020 Handles all appraisals for entities in the county. Accepts applications for homestead exemptions and other forms of tax relief such as the deduction for persons 65+.
District Attorney 972-548-4323 Chief legal advisor for the county, represents the state in all criminal prosecutions in Collin County. Responsible for juvenile matters, mental health cases, certain child support cases, Dept. of Human Services enforcement and child custody matters, victim and witness assistance as well as hot check complaints.
District Clerk 972-548-4381, Plano 972-881-3090 Recorder, registrar and custodian of all court pleadings, instruments and papers that are part of any district court case. Responsible for seating of juries. Accepts passport applications at Plano office.
District Courts 972-548-4320 Responsible for case management and trial of felony, civil, family relations and juvenile cases. Also handles requests for injunctive relief, organization of Grand Jury and supervision over various officials and boards.
Elections Administrator Metro 972-633-3200 Registers voters, maintains voter registration rolls, organizes and runs all county-held elections and handles absentee voting.
Handicapped Parking Placard 972-881-3010 Plano Obtain Form VTR-214 application for Disabled Person Indentification Placard and/or License Plate. (Some physicians have them in their office.) Physician must complete part of the form to verify need. Take completed form and $5.00 fee to Tax Office for placard, license plate charge is the same for any license plate.
Justices of The Peace Metro 972-424-1460 Call for precinct numbers, locations. Responsible for traffic complaints filed by State Highway Patrol, small claims cases, evictions, search warrants, peace bonds driver's license hearings, felony examining trials, fish & game problems and school violations.
Medical Examiner 972-548-3775 Performs autopsies and inspections within the county.

Texas Council on Problem & Compulsive Gambling 24-Hr Helpline 1-800-742-0443 Operates 24-hour helpline staffed by trained specialists, education materials available.
EMERGENCY
Frisco's Project For The Future 972-335-9495 Services include emergency food, clothing, limited utility assistance, job referrals, ESL and GED classes.
PARTICIPATION
League of Women Voters of Plano/Collin County 972-964-3335 Voter information and registration materials. Also sponsors candidate and issue forums.
Senior Adult Center 972-335-5515 Activies to appeal to a wide range of senior adults. AARP chapter meets at center.
Senior Citizens Advisory Board 972-941-7250 Ten citizens appointed to advise the City Council on issues related to seniors. Meetings every other month, public is invited to participate.
Senior Citizens Advisory Council 972-782-6151 Group meets quarterly to advise City Council on senior issues.
Texas Silver Haired Legislature 1-877-718-8745 A non-partisan organization comprised of 116 elected members over 60 , convenes in Austin during even-numbered years to establish legislative priorities related to senior adults.
PROTECTION
Better Business Bureau of Dallas 214-220-2000 Provides reliability reports on local and national businesses and charitable organizations along with consumer information. Mediates and arbitrates disputes, investigates false advertising.
Collin County TRIAD/SALT 972-547-5167 Triad is an inter-agency agreement between Collin County Sheriff, the Chiefs of Police, AARP and older/retired leadership in the county who have agreed to work together to reduce the criminal victimization of seniors and to enhance law enforcement for older citizens. Public invited to participate.
Consumer Protection Division 1-800-621-0508 Investigates consumer complaints and provides mediation between parties involved. Individual representation not available but can address trends that may affect the public.
Elder Law Division 1-800-806-2092 Works to identify and prosecute those who cheat or deceive senior Texans.
Governor's Citizens Assistance Office 1-800-843-5789 Offers information and referral, takes comments and concerns regarding state government.
RUOL, "Are You O.K.?" 972-941-7250 Plano offers a computerized system to check on the welfare of senior adults, persons with disabilities or anyone with a short or long-term illness. A pre-recorded message on the computer will call recipient and if the call is unanswered after two attempts a designated friend, relative or neighbor will be notified.
Texas Department of Insurance 1-800-252-3439 Provides information on insurance companies including financial and complaint inquiries. Accepts complaints of unfair treatment by insurance companies.

National Institute on Aging 1-800-222-2225 Federal government program involved with studies of aging including health issues, research and training programs.
TAXES
Internal Revenue Service 214-742-2440 Information and assistance on tax preparation.
Texas Comptroller's Office Dallas 972-671-7166 for Southern Collin County, Sherman 903-893-0692 for Northern Collin County Regulates state sales tax laws and monitors compliance with laws that deal with franchises, motor fuels, cigarettes and hotel taxes.
TRANSPORTATION
Senior Trans 972-562-4275 Working with Collin County Committee on Aging, Plano provides a low-cost ($.50 one-way) transportation program for Plano residents 60+ for Monday-Friday activities within the city.
